“I got a call from Trump’s people on my cell phone at 8:45 am, and they asked me if they could visit our parking lot here to see if it might work for a press conference,” recalls Sean. “We’re accessible from the main road you can get in and out of there quickly, and it was a real circus, so I figure our location was attractive because of the parking lot.” “As I understand, the Trump team Philadelphia’s headquarters is a couple of neighbourhoods up I-95, and they were surveying parking lots along the I-95 corridor to hold the press conference,” he explains. P45HV1daD9īut according to Sean, the name was nothing more than a coincidence and the real reason Four Seasons Total Landscaping got the nod came down to location, location, location. I could write jokes for 800 years and I'd never think of something funnier than Trump booking the Four Seasons for his big presser, and it turning out to be the Four Seasons Total Landscaping parking lot between a dildo store and a crematorium. On the surface, the ‘ Wait, Which Four Seasons?’ mix up is comedy gold, and understandably the internet exploded with glee. Four Seasons Hotel Philadelphia at Comcast Center November 7, 2020 It will be held at Four Seasons Total Landscaping- no relation with the hotel. To clarify, President Trump’s press conference will NOT be held at Four Seasons Hotel Philadelphia. Instead of booking the Four Seasons hotel, his team had secured something more humble: Four Seasons Total Landscaping, a gardening business in Northeast Philadelphia. Trump himself went on to confirm the location in a since-deleted tweet.īut as is so often the case what Trump presented to the public was a twisted version of the truth. Word spread that it would take place at the Four Seasons, a natural fit for the hotel-loving President. Last Saturday, with the election slipping out of Trump’s grasp, his team rushed to organise a press conference in Philadelphia. It’s been one week since President Trump’s team held a bizarre press conference in the carpark of the Four Seasons Total Landscaping, thrusting the small family-owned business into the global spotlight. “It’s crazy, we’ve completely sold out of our Lawn & Order jumpers and Make America Rake Again shirts,” laughs Sean on the phone from Philadelphia. When I call through to Sean Middleton, Director of Sales at Four Seasons Total Landscaping, he’s in the middle of another merchandise order. PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA – NOVEMBER 07: Attorney for the President, Rudy Giuliani speaks to the media at a press conference held in the back parking lot of landscaping company on Novemin Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Adobe apps refreshing slowlyĭo you find that, after you exported your fonts from Glyphs and switching to InDesign or Illustrator, the app seems to be frozen or ‘hanging’ for a few seconds? Maybe it takes even 10–15 seconds before the Adobe app becomes active again and refreshes its windows. An outdated file in the Temp folder of a project may interfere in the export process. Then, back in Glyphs, export again (Cmd-E). Open it, select everything in it (Cmd-A), and move the selection to the trash (Cmd-Delete). Next to the Scripts folder, you will find a Temp folder. If that does not help find the problem, try emptying your Temp folder: In Glyphs, choose Script > Open Scripts Folder (Cmd-Shift-Y), and you are taken to the Application Support folder of Glyphs. And, if you run into trouble in Illustrator, you will also have to check in Illustrator’s app-specific Fonts folder. Unfortunately, other Adobe apps like Illustrator do not offer this button in their Type > Find Fonts… dialog, so you have to open InDesign for that. In that case, you simply export your fonts into the Fonts folder inside the InDesign app folder: If you do not want to clutter all your Adobe font menus with your test exports, you have the option to only use InDesign for testing purposes. I think the only reason Thad Mumford was heard in “With Every Beat of My Heart” was because Moss wanted to give Thad a chance to perform in one of his songs. Moss was gone by the time season 6 came about, which is why “Danger” and “Telephone Rock” had Jerry Nelson voicing Big Jeffy (regardless, Hunt and Cerf can be heard in both songs). I mean, the truth is, “Proud,” the two season 6 songs and “With Every Best of My Heart” could have had all the performers the issue was, Richard Hunt was only just a background performer in season 4 and didn’t become more consistent with puppetry performances until the following season (frankly I thought it was kind of stupid that they had Jerry do double duty in that song, especially given that you can tell Hunt was puppeteering the lavender AM often thought to be Chrissy, but whatev’s). The only songs that had all four performers were “Sad,” “Four” and (I think) “Body Rythyms” (ignoring the fact that Cerf only did the voice for the customer and Moss was absent until season 14 I still think he did a voice over for Jeffy though cause I definitely hear Moss when he says “Sometimes I wheeze!”). That was me (you probably saw that comment on an upload of “Mountain of Love”). Obviously, Little Jerry was consistently Jerry Nelson (with the main exception of the "WALK" sketch with Grover), and Jeff Moss voiced Big Jeffy in most of them, having him used as more of a character in the late-1980s/early-1990s (even as the rest of the band was barely being used anymore).īut anyway, what it has led to me wondering is, how many Little Jerry and the Monotones songs have featured the voices of Christopher Cerf, Richard Hunt, and Jeff Moss as the back-up singers? I know they were all in "Four", but I can't think of any other time when all three were definitely in the song (even if they were lip synched to the wrong character). Because after they gained names and seemed to have performers tied to them, it was still somewhat common for certain members to have different voices. It seems like it's accepted that Christopher Cerf and Richard Hunt were regular voices, is that because members were named after them (at least for the song "Four"?). But after thinking more about it, I have thought about how the voices were sometimes inconsistent.
Only after a gradual descent to his low register at 4’56” does Miles close in more relaxed manner, reverting to the kind of phrasing heard at 2’00”, and achieving a remarkable summation of his solo’s emotional trajectory and musical materials (Williams even hints again at his Afro-latin rhythm for a couple of bars). The release of tension at the end of this section inspires Miles to hold the gentle mood for a few bars, before aggressively ascending to some of the most sustained high-register phrasing he ever achieved. (The extraordinary vocalised sounds at 3’44”-3’50” are another reference to the original song, and the phrase ‘Fav’rite work of art’.) But there is also much variety in terms of volume and energy, as in the relatively gentle section at 3’56”- 4’26” where Williams adds a simple Afro-latin rhythm, before reverting to the swing feel. In the last section of the song, starting at 2’00”, Miles returns with some repeated-note phrases implying double-tempo, but it’s not until 2’33” (equating to the lyric ‘Each day is Valentine’s day’) that an isolated high stab gives Tony Williams, who has so far been all but silent, the cue to start building a compelling groove.Īs the quartet steam into a second chorus, Miles becomes far more active, using a wider pitch-range and greater rhythmic variety. Miles’s very mobile phrases are mostly drawn from the song’s home scale, with telling injections of blue notes and bent pitches, but he still incorporates occasional references to the well-known melody – for instance at 1’17”-1’22” and at 1’37”-1’48”, the latter followed by a tension-filled pause filled by Hancock and Carter. Then at 0’56”, which would have coincided with the second section of the song, Ron Carter starts adding sparse bass notes to imply a slow pulse. Miles soon departs from the melody, going way down and then running gracefully up the scale to a long held note, and yet there’s no accompaniment except for Hancock’s infrequent chords. Herbie Hancock’s out-of-tempo solo introduction creates such a mood that, when he holds his last chord and Davis plays the first six notes of the song, the atmosphere is already so charged there’s no hint of sycophantic applause. Perfectly illustrating the creative tension of having his new band tackle his old hits, Miles turns his interpretation inside out, ditching the harmon-mute of his earlier recordings. It was roundly disavowed in Miles’s own book: “I might have been a junkie but I wasn’t as strung out as all that.” What’s certain is that he did the tune on record four times – in 1956 with Red Garland (Prestige/OJC) in 1958 with Bill Evans on 12 February 1964 for his live at Philharmonic Hall in Lincoln Center album My Funny Valentine and five months later in Japan (all on Columbia).Īnd the greatest of these is the Lincoln Center version. The tenacious one about Miles Davis (first printed in Bill Cole’s book) has him sitting-in uninvited with Max Roach and Clifford Brown in Detroit, doing the one tune and then walking out again with his horn in a paper bag. That would give the lie to the assertion that Baker was playing ‘Valentine’ before he met Mulligan, but the tune does seem to generate its own urban myths. According to Baker biographer James Gavin, it was Mulligan’s bassist Carson Smith who suggested using the tune, which was totally unknown to the other players. Their 1952 studio recording (Fantasy/OJC) preceded by more than a year the definitive vocal version by Frank Sinatra (Capitol) and, of course, it preceded Baker’s own vocal several months later (Pacific Jazz). It really came into its own the following decade, initially thanks to Gerry Mulligan and Chet Baker. But jazz-influenced, irony-conscious musicians gradually picked up on it, for example Mel Tormé in his 1947 radio transcriptions (Proper Records). Perhaps that’s why it wasn’t a hit in 1937. Listeners were blessed that Richard Rodgers set it to his simple minor melody – which he himself apparently persisted in regarding as a swing-bounce number like ‘The Lady Is A Tramp’, from the same Broadway show. Almost nothing is known about Saint Valentine, but he never had it so good as when Larry Hart wrote his 1937 warts-and-all love-poem, ‘My Funny Valentine’. One is an 1883 model with no trigger guard. and may now wear parts originally made for black powder guns.Hi folks, I have a couple of old harrington and richardson 32 cal pistols inherited from my great-great uncle. I've heard about a fair amount of uncertainty for colt SAA's that fall in the middle of the range (that, and its hard to know whether the gun was built for smokeless, but has had parts swapped out since it was built. Unfortunately, for some models stuck right in the middle, its never certain at all whether the gun WAS designed for smokeless or not. Sometimes it comes down to serial numbers, design differences, etc. Seems like with most firearms in the "transitional period" of 1890 - 1910, its usually not so easy to tell whether they are designed for smokeless or not. Which, by the way, is a really really handy thing - to be able to tell so easily. I've always heard that the main spring was the thing to look for on these - if its got the coil mainspring, its safe with smokeless. The third model was the first one to be approved for smokeless powder by IJ and remained in production till WWII.+1 If you post it the actual year of production can be determined. If you look under the left grip you should find the complete serial number which will often have a letter prefix. With the coil mainspring you have a third model safety hammer revolver. |
